Also, I have a lot of non-fiction books that aren't really in novel-type form but are more information-based, even reference-y at times, so I'd like to try and read one per month. I love learning about EVERYTHING so that's why I really enjoy these types of books.
And lastly, I'm trying to be more healthy and all that hubbub so while doing my 30 minutes of cardio each day, I'd like to try and listen to an audiobook. How fast I get through said book will solely depend on my motivation to exercise. So, you know. We'll see.
First up, the book I'm reading this week: The Unexpected Waltz by Kim Wright. I got this ARC copy from my work, but the book actually came out Tuesday (6/3). It's a light read about a recently widowed 52-year old women who tries to rebuild her life through ballroom dancing, volunteering with hospice patients, and her free-spirited best friend.
The next 3 books on the docket are:
1. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. I follow a bunch of booktubers who are a part of the Writers of Color Book Club on Goodreads and I absolutely want to add more diverse books into my reading habits so I thought this would be a great way to do that. This has been a book I've been wanting to read so I'm excited to have an excuse to get into it. You can join the goodreads group here.
2. Coastliners by Joanne Harris. My mom and I share books and this is one she picked up and couldn't get into. It's based on the french island, Le Devin, and she is not a fan of books with french language in it and what not so I'm going to give it a go. I thought it would be a good book to read for summer and the pile I have from my mom really needs to be worked on!
3. And my final book will be picked from my TBR Jar! This is my first time doing this and I think it's a freaking brilliant way to get through my TBR books. I have SO MANY and it's hard to pick up some of them, so if I'm assigned to read them (thank you overachiever) I will! The pick is:
I was so nervous for this! Haha, yes I'm weird. There are books in this jar that I HAVE to read but don't necessarily get excited to read. I'm happy to say this was not one of those. I have had this book for 6 years? I've wanted to read it and other books just got their first. I am so so so excited!
My non-fiction book, which I mentioned in my Monday Missions, is 50 Fashion Designers You Should Know by Simone Werle. I love fashion and right now I'm reading about the early 1900s fashion houses that were rising up.
My audiobook for the month is Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan. I mentioned more about this also in my Monday Missions, but C and I love Jim Gaffigan and it's really funny so far.
So that is my June TBR! What are you planning to read this month? I'd love to hear!
